A well-coordinated team
We are unique. Unique because of the people working with us. Our employees come from countries spread all over the world, bringing their individual stories to the table. The skills, talents, languages and cultural backgrounds that our team brings together make our small hotel a very special place. Come visit us, find out about, and meet the people, who shape us into what we are - magdas HOTEL. Afterwards you will have your own story to tell.
As Austria’s first Social Business Hotel, we aim to give people who had to flee their countries a chance and access to the job market. And to find a job or training position far from rejection based on origin, religion, language barriers, or skin color. Because it is still difficult for people with a refugee background to find work in Austria. At magdas HOTEL, they gain access to the labor market and become hosts themselves.
In autumn 2017, a separate apprenticeship focus was introduced at the magdas HOTEL. We offer young people with a refugee background the chance of training and a future. On average, we train ten young people in the three apprenticeships of cook, restaurant specialist and hotel clerk.

SUSTAINABLE HOTEL FROM HEART
We need space for greenery, we thought, and turned the former parking lot behind the house into a garden. Under the garden? 18 geothermal probes that heat and cool our restaurant and rooms. Our furniture is made from old materials, our toilets and fittings are water-saving. Culinary we offer many vegetarian and vegan products, our meat we get from Austrian farms and especially dairy products, drinks, fruits and vegetables are mainly organic. That is why we carry the Austrian Ecolabel.

AT THE CENTRE OF VIENNESE ART, PLEASURE, AND TRANQUILITY
Relaxing in ‘Stadtpark’, enjoying art and culture at ‘Schloss Belvedere’ or strolling through the city center. All of it is within walking distance, because our hotel is located in the center of Vienna. Further destinations are easily reachable thanks to the proximity to all major public transport services. Or you can rent one of our bikes at the reception!

OUR VARIED BREAKFAST
Can I get an encore? Our rich and versatile breakfast buffet meets everyone’s taste. We offer plenty of organic and fair trade products as well as numerous vegetarian and vegan dishes. Homemade vegetarian spreads, organic eggs (dessert), a large selection of pastries and the one or other sweet in a jar are just a small part of our selection. To be enjoyed either in our garden, when the sun is out or inside our beautiful restaurant. Sundays and holidays even until 14.00 clock.

UPCYCLING IS OUR DESIGN.
Sustainability is one of our core principles. Even when it comes to our interior, we made resource-efficient decisions and minimized waste wherever possible. We repaired our old lamps, converted the old hotel reception desk into a bar and as for the chairs: We just took them from our other hotel in Prater. The beautiful seat cushions in the rooms are sewn by hobby tailors from fabric scraps and our suites and apartments are adorned with original furniture from the 60s. That is how we created this lovely upcycling charm, which we absolutely adore.
Fantastic in and Outside
UPCYCLING STYLE DESIGN HOTEL.
In this house, too, we have remained true to the motto "upcycle the world". The former priest's residence dates back to the 1960s. A mix of new, re-use and upcycling furnishings composed by Vorarlberg artist and architect Daniel Büchel and the architectural firm BWM reflects the colourful diversity of magdas. In addition, countless volunteers have supported us again this time: Lamps were refurbished together with the Materialnomaden (material nomads) and unique cushions for our new house were made with the Wiener Times in the Nähkollektiv (sewing collective). Volunteers from Vienna’s University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences helped to make our new garden blossom on the former car park. The Caritas workshop in Retz has taken care of our old armchairs and artist Michaela Polacek has embellished our corridors with her drawings.
